1. Technology at the Service of Expression: How Digital Tools Enhance Oral Skills

As a student-teacher in training, I’ve learned that oral skills are crucial for students to communicate clearly and confidently. Fortunately, digital tools offer a great opportunity to improve these skills in an interactive and accessible way. For example, Forvo is an app that allows students to listen to the correct pronunciation of words and phrases by native speakers. They can record their own pronunciation and compare it with the native model, which helps them identify mistakes and improve their pronunciation.

Platforms like Flipgrid and Vocaroo are perfect for students to record their oral responses on different topics. This practice not only helps improve verbal fluency but also allows students to reflect on their speech, identify areas for improvement, and receive feedback from peers and the teacher. This process is a great way to build confidence in speaking.

Tools like ChatGPT  allow students to simulate real-time conversations. These platforms are ideal for practicing fluency and expanding vocabulary in a controlled environment where students can interact without the pressure of live conversations.

2. Speaking skills in the digital age: how to leverage technology to achieve fluency and confidence.

In my training as a future teacher, I have learned that technology can be an incredibly valuable resource for developing students’ speaking skills, particularly in areas such as pronunciation, fluency and public speaking. Tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams provide a great opportunity for students to practice oral presentations and live discussions, recording these sessions allows students to review, analyse their performance and point out areas for improvement, such as pronunciation or rhythm.

Additionally, tools like Kahoot! and Quizlet Live are fun and interactive ways for students to practice vocabulary while also responding orally to questions. These activities not only reinforce learning but also help students improve their speaking fluency and reaction time, all while engaging them in a game-like environment.

Platforms like SoundCloud or YouTube allow students to create and share podcasts or videos, offering them ongoing opportunities to practice speaking. Receiving feedback from both peers and teachers in these spaces helps boost motivation and supports their continuous improvement in oral expression.

3. Digitalize Your Voice: Technological Strategies to Improve Oral Expression

Integrating technology into the classroom can transform how students develop their oral skills. Digital platforms not only make learning materials more accessible but also offer new opportunities for practicing and receiving feedback on speaking abilities.

Tools like Edmodo and Padlet allow students to record and share audio or video responses on various topics. These platforms promote collaboration and enable students to express themselves verbally while receiving constructive feedback from peers and teachers, helping them improve their confidence in speaking.

Finally, platforms like Edpuzzle and Google Classroom provide students with educational videos and require them to respond orally to questions. This helps improve their ability to give clear and structured responses while enhancing their vocabulary and fluency. Apps like Google Translate and DeepL are also useful tools, as they let students hear the correct pronunciation of words and phrases they are learning, helping to correct common mistakes.
